Assassin’s Creed 2017 Planned For Switch Release

It looks like the reimagining of Assassin’s Creed by Ubisoft, currently slated for a launch next year, is going to be launching on the Nintendo Switch, too. Speaking on Twitter, well known Nintendo insider Laura Dale confirmed that she has heard that Assassin’s Creed is being lined up for a Nintendo Switch launch- it won’t be a late port, either, as apparently, Ubisoft want release date parity.

The new Assassin’s Creed game will be the first one since 2015′ Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. It is going to launch after the series took a hiatus, owing to the declining sales and critical reception of the games with Unity and Syndicate. It is the first time the series has taken a break since Assassin’s Creed II in 2009.

Assassin’s Creed‘s new game is planned to be a full mechanical reboot- apparently it will be set in ancient Egypt, and will be taking its cues from Witcher 3. Certainly, having a game like that playable on the go would be pretty sweet. Plus, Ubisoft were at the forefront of supporting the Wii U too, so seeing them be enthusiastic about Switch support isn’t much of a surprise, particularly given how openly supportive of Nintendo the publisher has been.
