Final Fantasy 15‘s Platinum demo, which launched last Thursday, after the Final Fantasy Uncovered event concluded, was meant to be a way to get even the skeptics and disbelievers on board early- however, the demo’s premise itself appears to be fundamentally unappealing, and, more importantly, it is rife with performance issues and sluggish framerate, causing many to wonder whether the game that has spent ten years in development will actually be ready for its release later this year.
However, speaking to Dengeki Online, the game’s director Hajime Tabata said that the demo, which uses a dynamic resolution to try and hit 1080p on both the Xbox One and the PS4, is not indicative of how the final game will perform at all. The final game will, instead, see better optimizations on both consoles, the better to work with and around the limitations and specs of each system.
Hopefully this is true- because as it stands right now, the demo’s poor performance is just giving people a bad first impression of what otherwise seems to be an exceptional looking JRPR.
