Final Fantasy 15 Gets New Footage Focused On Chocobos

As promised, there was an Active Time Report Community Special broadcast today- and though we didn’t get much new information out of the broadcast, which is in line with what we had expected, we did get some brand new footage of the game. This footage is focused specifically on Chocobos.

The giant birds, who have come to be sort of an unofficial mascot for the game series, show up in Final Fantasy 15 as well, and this footage shows us what they’ll be like in the game. You can check out the two minutes of new footage below.

Final Fantasy 15 will be launching worldwide on September 30 this year on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, after a development cycle that lasted almost ten years. It will be the first game in the series to have a simultaneous global launch. Let us know in the comments section if you plan on getting the game.

At this point, Hitman has three episodes with four episodes remaining for the year. That’s another four months of content and IO Interactive is reportedly planning for the second season already. Other features added to the base game include Elusive Contracts for targets that can only be killed once.

UK Game Charts: Overwatch is Blizzard’s Fastest Selling Console Title

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch made its debut in the UK and managed to hit the top spot in sales according to Gfk Chart-Track. The multiplayer hero shooter displaced Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End from its number one position and is now Blizzard’s fastest selling console title till date.

This is especially noteworthy when you consider that aside from Diablo 3, it hasn’t had much of a presence on consoles at all. Overwatch is also its first simultaneous release on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End dropped to second place while DOOM went to third. Homefront: The Revolution inexplicably continues to linger in the charts at fourth place. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is in fifth place followed by Ratchet & Clank, FIFA 16 and Tom Clancy’s The Division.

Another noteworthy debut is Total War: Warhammer at ninth place. Don’t let that fool you as to its success since Sega stated that it sold over 500,000 copies on Steam since launching. Grand Theft Auto 5 rounds things out at tenth place.

Fallout 4 Far Harbor on PS4 Receiving Update for Frame Rate Issues

After reports came out of Fallout 4’s Far Harbor running rather terribly on the PlayStation 4, Bethesda Softworks announced on Twitter that it had submitted an update to Sony to fix the same. As noted by the developer, “We’ve submitted our update to Sony to resolve performance issues affecting some within Far Harbor. We will notify everyone when it’s live.”

Far Harbor has been out since May 19th and complaints of its PS4 performance have been pretty consistent since then. Digital Foundry noted in its recent analysis that a thick layer of alpha transparency effects, thanks to all the fog included with the new area, were to blame.

Despite the frame rate being fixed at 30 FPS, it would often dip to 15 to 20 FPS. Performance on the Xbox One was also problematic but noted to be better than the PS4 version. We’ll keep you updated when the patch goes live so stay tuned for more information.

Rainbow Six: Siege Getting A New Update, Full Patch Notes Inside

Rainbow Six: Siege, Ubisoft’s team based shooter that acted as a soft reboot of their long running Rainbow Six series, has received a brand new update- it is available now on PC, and will be out on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 tomorrow, on June 1.

The update adds a whole lot of new features, as well as balance fixes. Some bugs and glitches have also been squished out in this update. You can check out the full patch notes for this update below:

Rainbow Six Siege 3.2 Patch Notes:

New Features

Shield charms are now available. Universal charms can now be used on shield-wielding Operators. This is applicable to universal charms that have already been bought.

General Tweaks and Improvements

Operator Balancing

Reworked Reloading with Shield Wielding Operators

We’ve disabled auto-reload on Blackbeard’s primary weapon when his shield is equipped. This will make Blackbeard’s gadget act in a similar way to other shield operators and will allow the player to decide when to reload.

We’ve fixed an issue where the pistol of a shield wielding operator will auto-reload after placing a gadget. This meant that the ballistic shield operator would be temporarily out of cover.

Gameplay Optimization

Positioning and Perspective Representation Improvements

More Accurate Gunfire Tracer Representation

Bullet tracers (white smoke lines that indicates where the bullet travels when fired) are now sourced from the 1st person model resulting in more accurate tracer representation. Previously, they were sourced from the 3rd person models, resulting in misleading gunfire situations when spectating or watching a teammate.

Character Positioning Fix

We’ve improved the character model positioning so that it no longer clips and passes through the deployable shield and barricade while prone. This will result in reducing incongruous positioning and giving unfair advantages to enemy players.

Rappel Clipping Exploit Fixes

On various locations on several maps, we’ve made it so that characters can no longer clip inside a wall being able to shoot enemies while in rappel.

Killer Instinct New Trailer Shows Off Gargos In Action

A new trailer for Microsoft’s Killer Instinct is now available, and it shows off Gargos in action. Gargos looks to be a supremely powerful character who will undoubtedly be favored by the community- and possibly be one of the best characters to play as for any newcomers to the game.

You can check out the video, which shows him, his moves, and his general fighting style, below. Honestly, I think he may be a bit overpowered- certainly, the video shows off a lot of great abilities that he has, many which seem to have no obvious counters, or checks and balances. But maybe in practice, while playing with him, there are limits to what he can do.

Killer Instinct is now in its third season. It is available on Xbox One and Windows 10 (and the PC port of the game is actually a competent one for a change, unlike Microsoft’s other Windows 10 ports so far).

Tekken 7 Not A PS4 Exclusive, Coming to Xbox One and PC As Well- Rumor

Although a console version of Tekken 7 has been announced for a while now, so far it has only been confirmed for the PlayStation 4. Bandai Namco’s caginess when it comes to confirming (or denying) the existence of any other version for the game, coupled with the fact that Japanese developers are explicitly supporting the PS4 exclusively this generation, after a generation of multiplatform development, has led many to conclude that Tekken 7 will be a PS4 exclusive.

However, that assumption may have been wrong. TICGN is reporting that at the MCM London Comic Con, where Tekken 7 was playable, Bandai Namco representatives confirmed that the game would be coming to the Xbox One and PC as well- with details on those versions presumably to be announced at E3 in two weeks.

If true, then this can only be good news for everybody. Well, except for fanboys who used Tekken 7 to pad out the exclusives list for their favorite system and swore by the game, but will now mysteriously lose all interest in it, anyway.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Developer Says The City In The Game Is Massive

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst‘s release is only a few days off now, and ahead of its release, we are hearing more and more about the title from the fine folks at DICE, who are sharing all sorts of information about the sequel that not many people ever expected to happen.

Gameplay Producer Jeremy Miller recently spoke in an interview about the city in the game, describing the city in the game, which is semi open world, as ‘massive,’ though he did neglect to give any more details about the size; since he hasn’t compared the size of the city to other game worlds, it’s hard to know exactly how big it is, but nonetheless, it is good to know that the developers have designed a large enough playground for the player’s parkouring feats.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be launching on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on June 7, after a number of delays.

Fallout 4 Mods Finally Coming to Xbox One Today

Bethesda will finally be bringing mods to consoles this Tuesday, starting with the Xbox One- on Twitter, Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 4 on Xbox One will be getting mods starting May 31, finally fulfilling a promise that was made over a year ago at E3 last year.

Only official mods will work with the console versions of the games, meaning only the ones made with Bethesda’s official Creation Kit. Mods on consoles will initially be limited to being just 2GB in size, which is a size limit that may be lifted later. If you play a game with a mod, all achievements will be disabled, and your save files will be segregated by how whether or not you had mods active on it, and which ones.

Bethesda also confirmed that the PS4 would be getting mods later in June, as well- so PS4 owners, don’t worry, you’re not going to be missing out on the modding action for too long.

Halo 5 Hog Wild Update Arriving Today, Warzone Changes Revealed

Halo 5: Guardians will be receiving a bunch of new REQs tomorrow, May 31st, courtesy of the Hog Wild update. Launching for free, the DLC contains new Warthog REQs, armor sets, weapons and much more. You can check them all out below.

It’s also noted that there were meant to be even bigger items included but as per 343 Industries on Halo Waypoint, they required “a bit more time for finishing touches and polish.” Players can look forward to seeing these items when Warzone Firefight arrives by June end in a free update.

Meanwhile, regular Warzone will be seeing some changes. The enemies and boss spawns will now be more dynamic and less predictable from match to match. 343 multiplayer designer Patrick Wren noted that, “One example: on Apex 7, at the 2-minute mark, you could either have a Zealot Assassin Boss in the Caves, or a Ranger Commander and his squad dropped off at the beaches. Each Warzone match should be a bit different instead of the same encounters game after game.”

Players can also expect better rewards for taking down bosses, which will also look more unique. There’s even more coming though. “There is so much more to talk about with new minion types, reinforcements, roaming bosses, complex encounters and more, which I’m told I can’t talk about just yet.”

In the midst of all this Halo content, it’s worth noting that Halo Wars 2 will also be playable at E3 2016.

Overwatch’s Play of the Game System Will Continue to Improve, Matchmaking Discussed

If you haven’t played Overwatch, Blizzard’s team-based hero shooter that’s taken the world by storm, you likely came across the Play of the Game system. This system highlights what it perceives to be the best play during a match but it hasn’t always been perfect. Common criticisms include how it doesn’t quite emphasize the coolest or the best plays.

GameSpot spoke to lead software engineer Rowan Hamilton about the same who noted that, “From a technical standpoint, it’s a really hard problem to have a computer figure out what is cool. They’re not very smart. They take some numbers in, they put some numbers out. It’s hard to figure out what is cool there. We constantly look at Play of the Game, and we’ve got a whole bunch of data on Play of the Games are actually happening out there in the wild, and we can kind of see patterns about this character getting a lot of PoTG for these killstreaks, they’re getting a lot of damage, or they’re getting a Play of the Game for that.”

Blizzard is capable of adjusting these algorithms though so it’s not like Torbjörn or Bastion will continue to dominate the highlights for very long. “We also have a lot of cool systems internally where we can play with the algorithm that determines Play of the Game and play the same game back again, and be like, ‘Okay if I tweak these numbers, what’s going to be the Play of the Game that gets picked this time?’ So it might’ve been Widowmaker getting three snipes, but I change the weighting on some other aspect that we take as important, and it could all of a sudden its Mercy resurrecting everyone on the point two second before the match ended. It’s going to be an ongoing process, and hopefully we continue to improve it.”

Hamilton also noted that the team is working on its matchmaking algorithm. As time goes by, multiplayer shooters tend to have less daily users from launch. How will the matchmaking account for that? “Obviously, one of the things that’s really hard to test internally is how the matchmaking algorithm going to work when there’s not thirty people playing the game anymore. How does it perform when it’s trying to make somewhat reasonable teams of six versus six. So that’s definitely another thing that we’re watching pretty closely.”

Overwatch will also be receiving its ranked Competitive Play mode in June as part of its first major update. How are you finding the game so far? Let us know in the comments.

Halo Wars 2 Will Be Playable at E3 2016

There continue to be developments surroundings Halo including Warzone Firefight and the Hog Wild update for Halo 5: Guardians. Things seem to be moving along for Halo Wars 2, The Creative Assembly’s take on the strategy spin-off, as it will be playable at E3 2016.

The news was confirmed by 343 Industries on Halo Waypoint: “Teams across the studio are preparing for the upcoming Hog Wild REQ Drop, the Warzone Firefight release, and even goodness that lies beyond. The Halo Wars 2 team is anxiously gearing up for E3, where the game will indeed be playable. There’s also – well, I can’t talk about more just yet.”

It seems pretty much certain then that new gameplay footage will be showcased when Microsoft’s presentation comes around. Either way, gear up for some more Halo in less than two weeks and that last line seems to be teasing even more. Possibly a reveal of what’s coming in the future?

Battlefield 1 Multiplayer Map Names Leaked – Rumour

Players are excited for Battlefield 1, which makes sense- it looks like one of the most exciting game in the series for years, and the World War 1 setting is truly going to be new and unique. But you know, with that kind of excitement comes the territory of fake ‘leaks,’ from fans probably hoping for their fifteen minutes of fame.

This new leak seems to be a lot like that- according to Reddit poster KoolTabbouli, a contact of his at EA, but not DICE, has leaked the names of the multiplayer maps for the vanilla version of Battlefield1– you may find these, along with his comments, below:
  • Asiago Offensive (Italian Alps Map)
  • Gaza Sands (Desert Map)
  • Siege of Damascus (I’d assume desert-urban…?)
  • Stalemate (Sounds like a Flanders fields kinda deal)
  • ANZAC Cove (Sounds like Gallipoli, I’d assume that ‘D-day map’ LevelCap mentioned and the one with the Battleship ruining the coastline)
  • Garden Twilight (No idea)
  • Argonne Shade (Probably the forrest map we saw in the trailer)
  • Operation Castlewick (No idea either, maybe references something in campaign?)
  • Scorched Earth (Sounds Western or Eastern Front…?)
Of course, why an EA person would know the names of maps for a DICE game that is currently months away from release, I don’t know. KoolTabbouli also covers his bases by claiming that his own source admits that the names of the maps in the final game may change, but that as of right now, they are accurate.

Maybe they just are- but I would take it all with heaps of salt.

Titanfall 2 Partners With Mountain Dew for XP Boosts, Titan Rewards – Report

You know how the tie ups with Doritos and Mountain Dew that Call of Duty used to have became practically a meme? Well, it looks like EA were serious when they said they wanted their shooters to target Call of Duty, because their upcoming Titanfall 2 will be taking over for Call of Duty, and offering players a promotional campaign with Mountain Dew.

As was the case with the Call of Duty versions of the campaign, it seems like Titanfall 2 players will be able to redeem codes found on promotional bottles for in-game rewards. Leaked photographs suggest that XP boosts and Titan rewards are among the benefits on offer- which should be enough to have a lot of people chugging down Mountain Dews like no one’s business.

Titanfall 2 is due out some time later this year. Unlike the first game, which did not release on PlayStation, this one will be coming out to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Destiny Glitch Allows for Unlimited Golden Gun Time

All players of Destiny, especially those of you who engage in PvP, be warned- there is a new exploit in the game that is literally game breaking, and if you are caught on the wrong end of it, you’re going to find yourself taking on a player who literally cannot be taken down. This post will not explain how to activate the glitch– but it does tell you what all the glitch does. It’s devastating.

Essentially, the glitch, discovered by Redditor photosbywolf, removes the time limit from the Golden Gun super, allowing it to be used constantly without the timeout- this doesn’t mean that you get unlimited shots (you still only get four), but the time that it is active is unlimited, which by itself can be pretty game breaking. But when it is paired with other Supers, like Shadowshot, and used in tandem with the Bladerunner class (which can be done at any time), you become literally invincible.

Check out the video below showing off some of the effects of this glitch- again, it doesn’t show you how to do it, so don’t worry. This could be devastating for the community, so let’s hope Bungie patch it out soon.

Call of Duty Infinite Warfare Dev to Discuss Weapons Soon, Trickshot Details Coming

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare may have the most disliked trailer in history, and it may have come out looking poor in the incessant comparisons to Battlefield 1, but the game is still due out for later this year, and the developers are going full steam ahead with it. They are also sharing more information about the title on Twitter- and maybe as you learn more about it, you will be willing to give the game more of a chance, too.

For instance, on Twitter, Infinity Ward shared a short clip discussing how the studio approaches motion capture to create what it says are realistic characters in its games- and definitely, realistic animations are essential in a game like Call of Duty. Equally importantly, Infinity Ward also confirmed that they would be discussing the weapons in the game very soon- considering that Infinite Warfare has a space setting, it’s not a surprise that players are excited to know what kinds of imaginative guns the developer may have come up with. Also, players of multiplayer won’t need to wait much longer, either, because Infinity Ward will discuss aspects of it, including trick shots, soon as well.

So- the game may have made a poor first impression, but maybe Infinity Ward are hoping that as more information on the game comes to light, players will be kinder to it. We’ll see. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is due out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in November this year.
