The upcoming Destiny expansion may well be the final big update for the game before the launch of Destiny 2 next year- and so, it seems like Bungie aren’t going to be holding back at all. They’ll be going all out. In an interview, Rise of Iron executive producer Scott Taylor shared some juicy new details on the upcoming expansion.
“I would say it’s an iteration—with a game like this the best way to learn is to put it out in the world,” he said. Obviously we want players happy and engaged and you know, one of our core tenets is “it’s a world you want to be in” and I think that extends to all aspects. And so I think that tuning those things is just, it’s a process, and now we’re in a place where—it’s nice to hear that! Right?
“But yeah we want it to be—with Gjallarhorn especially coming back we want people to be able to get it, but it’s going to be, you know, you’re going to play a quest to get it, and it’s hard! It’s a hard quest. It’s worthy of—you know, you want it to be—you want the rewards to match the effort. That’s a goal.”
What about older raids, like Crota’s End or Vault of Glass, returning? Does Taylor see any scope for that happening?
“What I can say is that, you know, same with Sparrow Racing and all these other things, like, the raids being brought up, those things are things we talk about, like, I mean, obviously. For now we thought it was a better use of time to make a new raid and to really spend the time making that a great experience. Those are things we talk about, but you know, we’re not totally solid on exactly what we’re going to do to support right after Rise of Iron,” he said, which is not the most convincing answer ever, but hey, at least he tacked the issue.
