Skyrim Remastered: Bethesda Working On Improving Performance And Effects

Bethesda are apparently working to make the Skyrim remaster, formally titled The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition, the definitive version of the game. In a recent interview, Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirmed that the developer is taking the remaster very seriously, attempting to make it ‘as next gen as possible.’

“We haven’t gotten into the full, ‘Here’s all the things we’re doing.’ But the basic idea is, in all the ways possible, we’re trying to improve it and make it as next-gen and appropriate for these consoles as possible,” he told IGN. “Performance, effects, or whatever we can do to make the game look and feel better, we’re going to give it a go.”

We can certainly see this in a lot of the graphical improvements that Bethesda have shown off already. That, plus mod support for the console versions of the game, as well as free upgrades for PC owners, makes this one of the easiest remaster recommendations in recent history.

The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this October.
