Hideo Kojima recently clarified that despite its apparently dark tone, his upcoming Death Stranding will not, strictly speaking, be a horror game, and that his intention with it was more to make a game with a more artistic tilt.
He has now also confirmed that he feels humour is an important aspect of video games, and that there will be plenty of it in Death Stranding. “Humor is a very important aspect for games,” said Kojima while speaking with Glixel. “You play a game for a very long time – Death Stranding is a big game, too – and you put stress on the player and you lead them through peaks and valleys.
“Humor is an important aspect to make sure the player can enjoy playing across these peaks and valleys,” he continued. “So we’ll have humor in this game too, but to a degree that it doesn’t ruin the world setting. It will be at an appropriate level.”
Recently, we received news that the release date for Death Stranding had already been decided, even though we don’t know what it will be yet, and that the game will strictly be a PS4 game, not a PS5 one.
