The latest issue of PC Gamer UK is out, and it talks a lot about the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda, and as such, we’ve gotten a lot of new details on the game, most of which are story related.
According to Bioware’s Michael Gamble, there is no overarching threat in Andromeda like the Reapers in the original trilogy, and that the game’s story will be of a much more “casual” and “optimistic” nature, “instead of barreling towards certain doom.”
Additionally, it looks like you will not be the focal point of the game’s narrative, but rather this new galaxy and its inhabitants will. “The story is not only about the cast,” says Gamble while talking about the returning loyalty missions. “The story is about settling, the story is about survival, the story is about the locals – and that’s where the loyalties will definitely focus. Not everyone arrives at the same time, there are things going on in Andromeda that you have no control over.”
In terms of gameplay details, we’ve learned, among other things, that the galaxy/space map will be more 3D than 2D, and that story missions will be focused to specific arenas rather than being of an open world nature.
Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on March 21 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned for more updates.
