Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be the only game in town this year as far as westerns go - according to WCCFTech, the next Far Cry game may also decide to take a detour into the past and deliver an open world western game. What’s more, it may be due out this year, too.
There is a fair bit of evidence pointing this way- website Great Falls Tribune reported that a local church will be featured in a blockbuster game in a world famous franchise that is due out later this year. Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, who has a pretty incredible track record with insider leaks, pretty much confirmed on NeoGAF that this is referring not to Red Dead, but a new Far Cry game. WCCFTech also points out that earlier this year, Ubisoft sent out a survey with one of the questions attempting to gauge fan interest in a western themed Far Cry.
So there we have it- it looks like the new Far Cry game will continue the series’ tour through time rather than space (much like Primal did last year). If this is all real, we can expect to learn about it at E3 next month.
