If it weren’t obvious enough, Arkane Austin’s Prey has nothing to do with the cancelled Prey 2 that Human Head Studios was working on till 2014. According to Pete Hines, Bethesda VP of marketing, when speaking to GameSpot at E3, “There is not a single element of Prey 2 in [the new Prey], other than aliens running amok and you’re being hunted by aliens.”
“It’s a systems-based game that Arkane is known for. They’re known for creating really well-realized worlds where everything isn’t just tangible, but there’s logic and reason behind it. There’s a reason why this space station is the way it is that you find yourself on, there’s a reason for the ecology for the aliens that you see and are fighting and trying to survive.”
Prey’s level design and player choice has been likened to Dishonored – it’s not open world but there’s plenty of freedom to how you approach a level. Prey is currently scheduled for a 2017 release so we have a ways to go before learning more about it.
